At around 3:30 PM on May 2, 2026, Officer Lorentz was working at Target at [ADDRESS REDACTED] West, St. Paul, Ramsey County when loss prevention notified him about a suspicious incident. ARYNN ELIZABETH TAXDAHL [DOB REDACTED] scanned almost $400 worth of items at a self- checkout station. Taxdahl pulled out a large stack of debit or credit cards and tried to pay with two of them. The charges were declined. Taxdahl pulled out a large wad of cash from her pants, but she did not use cash to pay for the items she had scanned.
Taxdahl left the store without her items. Officer Lorentz saw Taxdahl speaking to people near a blue Hummer and a white BMW in the parking lot. Taxdahl suddenly fled on foot. Officer Lorentz spoke to the man in the white BMW, DM, who said he was there because he noticed Taxdahl was using his credit and debit cards at Target. DM later explained he had just met Taxdahl on May 1, 2026. Beginning around 8:30 AM on May 2, 2026, DM received notifications on his phone from banks that several of his credit cards had been used or attempted to be used: a Citi Bank card had a $100 charge, a Costco Visa had a $500 charge, a US Bank Visa ending in 3111 had an $1800 cash withdrawal and an attempted purchase in the amount of $389 at Target, a US Bank Visa had a $200 charge, and a First Western Visa ending in 4256 had a $1000 charge.
DM also said he had $500 in cash that had been stolen from his wallet. Further investigation revealed that Taxdahl had used DM’s US Bank Visa and his First Western Visa at the self-checkout at the Target. Taxdahl fled and hid in a red Dodge Charger. When Office Lorentz activated his squad’s emergency lights the occupants of the Charger fled. Taxdahl was stopped and detained. Taxdahl asked why she was going to jail, and she was told that she had used credit cards that didn’t belong to her at Target.
Taxdahl removed $1693 in cash from her bra when asked where the cash she had at the store went. Taxdahl declined a custodial statement. Taxdahl was conditionally released on a gross misdemeanor theft in Ramsey County District Court file 62SU-CR-25-3625 on March 30, 2026.
