At approximately 10 P.M. On or about 8/20/2025, Minneapolis police officers were dispatched to an alley behind the 1100 block of Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, in response to a report of a carjacking. Upon arrival, officers met with an adult female (Victim 1), who reported that she was sitting in the front passenger seat inside her silver Chevrolet Malibu (MN JFP166), when a suspect entered the driver’s door, sat down, and said "They're gonna kill me, get out" or words to that effect.
Victim 1 said the suspect simultaneously pushed an object she believed to be a weapon into the left side of her torso several times. Victim 1 said she didn't look down at the object because she was afraid but that she thought it was some sort of weapon or something similar. She reported that she got out of the front passenger's seat and saw the vehicle drive from the alley. Victim 1 said the suspect was wearing neither a mask nor gloves. Victim 1’s husband (Victim 2) was also at the scene. He reported that he parked the couple’s Malibu in the alley while he went inside Domino’s Pizza to retrieve a food order that he was going to deliver in his vehicle.
While he was inside, he said he observed surveillance video showing Victim 1 in distress in the rear of the restaurant. He went to the back door and observed her in the alley with symptoms consistent with a panic attack. Shakopee police recovered Victims’ abandoned Malibu on or about 9/2/2025. Subsequent forensic processing and analysis revealed PRESTON ANDREW OLIVER (Defendant) contributed to a DNA mixture found on the interior of the Malibu’s driver’s door as well as the gear shift and steering wheel.
Police presented Victim 1 with a photo lineup, and she positively identified Defendant as the person who carjacked her. Further investigation revealed that Shakopee police had an interaction with Defendant on 8/22/2025—two days after the carjacking—during which Defendant was wearing a black jacket with the known Domino’s Pizza logo. Defendant told police then that he left a shelter in Anoka and made his way to Shakopee. Defendant is not presently in custody, and his whereabouts are unknown. The State is, therefore, seeking a warrant for Defendant’s arrest.
