On January 31, 2026, around 10:43pm, Minneapolis Police stopped a car for failing to signal 100 feet in advance of a turn, failing to complete a stop at a stop sign, and a possible electrical malfunction of the turn signals as both flashed simultaneously when the car did attempt to signal, near 19th Street East and 2nd Avenue South. The driver was identified as Joseph Matthew Immenschuh, [DOB REDACTED], “Defendant” herein, and he stated that he did not have proof of insurance. Defendant was using a ratchet strap as a seatbelt.
Officers saw the burnt opening of a glass pipe sticking out of a compartment in the center console of the car, that officers recognized as a device that could be used to smoke marijuana. Officers confirmed that the glass pipe had burnt residue on it as well as a burnt bud/leafy substance consistent with burnt marijuana in the pipe. Defendant stated that there was marijuana in his backpack in the rear seat of the car. Defendant was removed from the car and officers searched the backpack. Officers located a bottle of assorted pills in an unmarked prescription bottle; 5 yellow-colored pills that resembled 30 mg pills of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, a Schedule II Controlled Substance, and 5 peach-colored pills that resembled 20 mg pills of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, a Schedule II Controlled Substance.
A ziplock baggie of a white powdery substance was located in the center console, that was determined to be 11.91 grams of field test positive cocaine. A $50 bill with a white powdery substance on it was also found in the center console; that substance field tested positive for fentanyl and weighed 0.13 grams. Defendant’s person was searched and officers found 3 white-colored pills that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Defendant is currently in custody.
