On February 3, 2026, law enforcement responded to the Kohls located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NW, Coon Rapids, Anoka County, upon receiving an automatic license plate reader hit for a reported stolen vehicle, a white 2025 Ford Transit (AZ/AM98987). The vehicle was reported stolen on January 31, 2026, out of Superior, Wisconsin, from H. M., who rented the vehicle from U-Haul. Law enforcement monitored the vehicle until a male went to enter the driver’s-door of the vehicle. The male was identified as William Dion Byrnes [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein.
Defendant was arrested. In a search incident to arrest, defendant had the keys for the stolen vehicle in his possession. H. M. Was contacted by law enforcement. H. M. Told law enforcement that defendant is her cousin’s boyfriend and that he took the rental vehicle without her permission with her cousin. She stated that she rented the vehicle to pick up her dog from a residence, and her cousin and defendant came with her. In the time H. M. Went into the residence to get her dog and came back out, the vehicle was gone.
Her cousin told H. M. They would bring it back to her but never did. H. M. Said she tried calling her cousin and defendant but neither of them would return her calls. Accordingly, H. M. Reported it stolen. Neither her cousin nor defendant were listed on the rental contract or had any permission to take, use, or drive the vehicle.
