M., Elk River Police responded to a call at [ADDRESS REDACTED]. Which is an address in Sherburne County. At that time, the police dispatcher was on the phone with Laura Molina Gifford [DOB REDACTED], Defendant hereafter. It was learned that multiple juveniles had shown up to Defendant's house party, but were not welcome. While on the phone Defendant was reading license plates and indicated that she told the juveniles that she had a gun. As the police arrived to the area, they stopped a number of vehicles that appeared to have just left the residence of Defendant.
Several of these individuals that were stopped were spoken to and many reported that Defendant had a gun and that she pointed it at them. This included the driver of a white BMW who stated that Defendant pointed it right at him. He also reported that Defendant's husband pulled Defendant's arm down when this was happening. Similarly both occupants of a red truck stated that Defendant had a gun. The driver of the truck reported being in the BMW when Defendant pointed the gun at the driver of the BMW. When Defendant was asked about having any firearms, she reported that they were in a gun safe in the basement.
She also reported not having a handgun out during the incident with the uninvited guests. She did say that she told these individuals that if they didn't leave that she would go get her gun. When asked about pointing anything at them, she stated it was a cell phone. TPM reported that Defendant was pointing at him with what looked to be a handgun. In a later conversation with TPM, and a few others who were present, it was learned that JTM reported that Defendant pointed a gun directly at him. CRR reported seeing Defendant inside of the house with a gun before she ran outside.
He also stated that Defendant tried to convince everyone remaining at the residence that there was not a gun involved. BLG said that he saw Defendant re‐enter the home with a gun, and that she was going to kill the uninvited guests for tearing up the lawn, before running back outside. JTM reported that Defendant had a direct confrontation with the driver of the white BMW, which had been parked in the driveway. This confrontation included Defendant stating that she was going to get her gun. She did just that, returning outside with a gun that she raised in the air.
JTM reported Defendant holding the gun loosely, or in sloppy manner as she waived it around. JTM was at this time concerned that he was about to get shot. He also reported that Defendant hid the gun in her sweatshirt as she ran towards the other cars getting the license plate numbers. A later search of Defendant's home revealed a couple of handguns consistent in size and color of the gun described by others. In June, Defendant's husband contacted the police and provided a further statement wherein he did report Defendant having a gun during the incident.
