He observed a vehicle driving on the road without a hood and that had registration that expired in June. The driver pulled over to the side of the road, got out of the vehicle and immediately walked around the front to the passenger side of the vehicle. Officer Corbett performed a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Tyler Thomas Dimmen, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. There was a passenger in the vehicle who was later identified as K. M. B. Officer Corbett asked Defendant and K. M. B. If there was anything illegal such as weapons or narcotics in the vehicle.
Both Defendant and K. M. B said no initially but Defendant subsequently informed Officer Corbett that he had some weed and pulled an unmarked plastic bag out of his pants pocket that contained 10 grams of a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana. Law enforcement performed a search of the vehicle based upon the improperly stored marijuana. Officer Corbett observed a large amount of small plastic baggies in the back of the vehicle that were inside of a tire. Officer Dougall located even more small plastic baggies in a backpack located on the back driver side seat.
When Officer Corbett opened the trunk to examine the bags closer, one had a small amount of a white crystalline substance, which was believed to be methamphetamine based upon Officer Corbett's training and experience. Officer Dougall checked the passenger rear compartment where he located a purple bag in between the seats near the back compartment. Officer Dougall could feel a glass pipe in the bag and located a broken glass pipe that had a crystalline substance around the inside of the mouth piece believed to be methamphetamine.
Also in the bag were multiple pieces of suspected narcotics and a tie bag that had narcotics believed to be cocaine. K. M. B. Indicated that none of the stuff was his and that it all belonged to Defendant. K. M. B. Also said that the car was Defendant's. Defendant admitted that there was a little bit of coke in the vehicle. When asked about the meth and the bags Defendant said "yeah. I'm not gonna deny nothing". Defendant also admitted that the vehicle belonged to him. Law enforcement field tested the substances.
The white substance found in the purple bag was positive for cocaine and the bag located by Officer Corbett tested positive for Meth. The weight of the narcotics was 3.7 grams of cocaine and 4 grams of methamphetamine. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn.
