This case involves a law enforcement encounter.
At around 10:20 AM on March 19, 2026, officers were sent to [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County on a domestic assault. Officers found JEREMIAH MARKESSE HILLER [DOB REDACTED] outside the residence with his parents. Hiller’s father said he was not interested in pursuing charges against his son – he just wanted Hiller removed from the residence. Officer Porter spoke to Hiller who was bleeding from his left wrist and had scratches on his left hand and forearm. Hiller’s t-shirt was ripped, and it was difficult to understand Hiller.
Hiller had an odor of alcohol coming from him, and when asked how much he had to drink, Hiller said he was drunk.” Hiller said he cut his arm when his father pushed him into a window while he was trying to remove Hiller from the house. Hiller stood up and walked toward his father. Officer Porter told Hiller not to leave because they were talking. Hiller flinched as if he were going to assault Officer Porter. Officers discovered Hiller had warrants for his arrest, and they placed him in handcuffs behind his back.
Hiller moved his hands to the left side of his body, and he grabbed the grip of the handgun on Officer Porter’s right hip. Officer Porter looked down and saw Hiller pulling on his department issued firearm. Officer Porter notified the other officers of what Hiller was doing, and he twisted the gun away from Hiller. Officer Porter took Hiller to the ground, and he could still feel Hiller pulling on the firearm. Officer Porter transferred his weight onto Porter’s right hip trapping Hiller’s hands. Officers removed Hiller’s hands from Officer Porter’s handgun and walked him to the squad.
Hiller was advised of his constitutional rights and agreed to speak to an officer. Hiller initially claimed the officer made Hiller touch the gun. Hiller then denied grabbing the gun saying had he grabbed the gun he would have unhooked it. Finally, when asked if there was anything else he wanted to tell the officer, Hiller replied, “I tried to grab his gun and bossman put me on my ass—simple.” On July 18, 2025, Hiller failed to appear at sentencing on a domestic abuse no contact order violation in Ramsey County District Court file 62-CR-25-1855 and on a misdemeanor domestic assault in Ramsey County District Court file 62-CR-24-3158.
