When asked if he had any idea why he was in custody, Branson said, “Yes, 444 Maryland. You said it. Gun Unit so clearly you must have seen me on camera with a gun.” When asked what’s going on, Branson replied, I’m making stupid-ass decisions—that’s it.” Branson claimed a man walked up to his car with a gun and started shooting at him. The investigator asked Branson if it happened in the lot at [ADDRESS REDACTED], and Branson said, “This happened on the side, right? Right before Thanksgiving, right?” Branson again said he did some dumb s***. When asked what specifically he did, Branson said, “So, I came back and said, ‘Blah, 2 62-CR-26-172 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 1/8/2026 blah, blah.’ I came from the side of Arundel, but I didn’t want to kill nobody, bro.” Branson made a shooting gesture when he made that statement.
The investigator clarified the specific incident he was talking to Branson about. Branson eventually said he walked past the black car when he went into the store. The driver asked Branson if Branson needed any weed. Branson told the driver he was good, and he went into the store. Branson entered the store and heard gunshots. Two women were in the store at the time of the shooting. An employee tried pushing Branson out of the store. Branson claimed he saw bullet holes in the black car, and he thought the driver was shooting at him.
Branson saw the black car turn around and came back on Arundel Street. Branson thought the driver was going to shoot at him, so he shot once at the car. The investigator said, “You are going to tell me you didn’t know who was shooting?” Branson replied, “No, sir. I did not know who else was shooting. Even after that. I kept telling myself that I was dumb. Like, ‘Why I shoot?’ I didn’t even know if they were shooting at me. This was the dumbest s*** ever.” Branson said his gun jammed. Branson said the gun he used was the one police recovered from his bedroom behind the radiator.
Branson said he returned to the store trying to get his “woods,” but the store was closed.
