On November 21, 2025, at approximately 12:35 A.M., Deputy Lieder was on patrol northbound Rice Street and County Road B2, Roseville, County of Ramsey, when he observed a silver Chrysler Town & Country van traveling south on Rice Street drive through a red traffic light. The van stopped at the traffic light on Rice Street and Minnesota Street, and then continued south when the traffic light turned green. Deputy Lieder activated emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop. The van was slow to stop, but stopped on Rice Street on the bridge over Highway 36. Officer Lieder made contact with the driver verbally identified as SAINTTOMMY BIBI ADENIYI AKINS, [DOB REDACTED] and advised him of the reason for the stop.
ADENIYI AKINS did not have a driver’s license or identification on him. He said he forgot his wallet at home. Deputy Lieder asked ADENIYI AKINS if he had any recent tickets, and he said no. Deputy Lieder advised if that was accurate, he would be released with a warning. Deputy Lieder told ADENIYI AKINS to “hang tightly,” and began to walk back to his squad car. ADENIYI AKINS yelled something to the Deputy, but Deputy Lieder was not able to hear what was said. Deputy Lieder began to run ADENIYI AKINS’s information.
ADENIYI AKINS placed his vehicle in drive and drove south on Rice Street. Deputy Lieder initiated a pursuit, activated emergency lights and siren. At times, ADENIYI AKINS slowed and pulled over to the shoulder, but he continued to flee at speeds ranging approximately 40-50 miles per hour. Deputies were able to box the van, stopping it on Rice Street. ADENIYI AKINS was ordered out of the van. He was arrested. An IBIS machine was used to confirm ADENIYI AKINS’s identity. When asked if he had warrants, ADENIYI AKINS said yes.
Deputies did not find active warrants for him. When advised of this, ADENIYI AKINS said he was confused and meant to say he had no insurance on the van.
