On November 27, 2025, officer with the Minneapolis Police Department were on routine patrol near the intersection of W 26th St and Lyndale Ave S, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. An ALPR hit alerted officers to a stolen vehicle, a black Lincoln SUV bearing Minnesota license plate GCPA. The vehicle was stopped and improperly parked, and officers initiated a stop. When officers initially approached the vehicle, they did not see any occupants. However, when they got close, they saw a sole occupant, later identified as KHALID MOHAMED RASHID HASSAN, [DOB REDACTED], “Defendant” herein.
Defendant was slumped in the driver’s seat. Officer knocked and shined their flashlights and roused the Defendant who they observed to have red and pinpointed eyes. Defendant did not initially respond to officers and instead reached into his pants numerous times. Officers instructed him to step out of the car and not reach towards his pants. Officers removed Defendant from the vehicle and in a search incident to arrest located a tan and black handgun in his right pants pocket. The handgun was loaded with a round in the chamber.
Defendant was generally non-responsive to officer questions and would not provide his date of birth for identification. However, Defendant did claim that he ingested fentanyl. When officers were able to fully identify him, they located a felony warrant for arrest related to a pending Second- and Third-Degree assault case in 27-CR-25-15631. Defendant does not have a permit to carry. Additionally, Defendant is subject to a conditional release order in 27-CR-25-15631 that prohibits from possessing any firearms.
Defendant is currently in custody on an unrelated matter. The State requests a rush warrant to secure his appearance in this case.
