On October 25, 2025, officers with the Hopkins Police Department took a report from a known person (“Victim”) at the Hopkins Police Department. Victim reported that a person had broken his vehicle’s window. Officers met with Victim, outside of the Hopkins Police Department. Officers approached Victim, [NAME REDACTED] in his vehicle, and noticed that the rear driver’s side window was busted out. Victim [NAME REDACTED] is a delivery driver for Door Dash. Victim stated that he drove to an apartment complex (“the Apartment”) to deliver a bottle of alcohol to a customer.
The customer approached Victim, [NAME REDACTED] in his vehicle, and became very aggressive. Due to the customer’s aggression, Victim did not deliver customer the alcohol. Rather, Victim [NAME REDACTED], parked, and started to contact Door Dash to report the incident. The customer located Victim, [NAME REDACTED], and took a piece of metal and started hitting Victim’s vehicle. Victim reported that when the customer started to hit Victim’s vehicle, the customer stated: “I want the alcohol right now.” Victim’s rear window broke as a result of the customer’s actions.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] informed Victim to call 911. The cost to repair the damage to Victim’s vehicle is $5585.82. Officers know that customers of Door Dash can see a delivery driver’s location until the point in time that the delivery is made. Victim provided officers with a description of the officers. Victim could not recall the exact Apartment, but kept telling officers “44.” Officers are familiar with an apartment complex located at 44 12th Avenue South in Hopkins, Hennepin County, Minnesota.
These apartments are called Vista 44. Officers asked Victim if Vista 44 was the apartment, and Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Later, officers went to the Apartment. Officers spoke with a security guard (“the Employee”) and were able to view surveillance footage from the Apartment. Officers reviewed the surveillance footage which revealed the following: (1) Victim [NAME REDACTED] in his vehicle; and (2) Victim’s vehicle was not damaged. The Employee told officers that a male was in the lobby and was upset after a delivery driver had left.
The Employee told officers that the male yelled: “He just took my liquor.” In another surveillance video, the male is seen leaving [APT REDACTED]. The male then ran towards the entrance of the Apartment. The male exited the Apartment and went to a vehicle in the parking lot. The male grabbed an unknown item out of the back of the vehicle. Later, the male was seen placing the same object back into the vehicle. Officers continued to speak with the Employee. The Employee stated that the male had not left the building yet and was still inside of [APT REDACTED]. Officers went to [APT REDACTED] and a female answered the door.
