On January 4, 2026, at approximately 7:27 A.M., police responded to an apartment located at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Roseville, Ramsey County, Minnesota, regarding a domestic assault. The caller reported that the suspect had a gun, and the caller did not know where he went. Upon arrival, police met with the caller, APAM. APAM said that her ex-boyfriend and father of her child, JORDAN J’KAI SHAW – [DOB REDACTED], came to her apartment to get his clothing because he stayed there over the weekend to watch their five month old child.
APAM said SHAW accused her of talking to other men. APAM reported that SHAW began to assault her by pulling her hair and strangling her. While she was being strangled, APAM said she could not breathe. APAM said she was able to get away then SHAW threw her to the ground in the bedroom and pressed his knuckles hard against her temple. APAM reported that SHAW then partially pulled a handgun out of his left pocket and told her that he would kill her if he found out she was talking with other men. APAM said SHAW then pressed his finger in the middle of her forehead and said he would shoot her right there.
APAM reported that she was very afraid that he would come back and kill her and that she wanted to go to a shelter because she did not feel safe returning to her apartment as SHAW has her keys. Based on APAM’s responses to the lethality screening, she screened in as high risk. Police observed pieces of APAM’s hair near the bathroom and other signs of a struggle. APAM was transported to Regions Hospital and received an Intimate Partner Violence examination. APAM said that SHAW was watching their daughter at her house on New Year’s Eve while she went out.
When APAM left, she forgot her keys, which she normally would not do because SHAW stole them several times. SHAW took her keys to his dad’s house, where he left their baby, and then went out of town with them. When APAM came back to her apartment on January 3, she and the baby were locked out because SHAW still had her keys. APAM said SHAW texted her, “Where are you? Do you want these keys?” APAM responded that she was home, and he could come grab his things, but she asked him not to put his hands on her because he was already saying that he was going to beat her up and that she was talking to other people.
APAM said she woke up to her door opening then SHAW came by her bed. APAM again asked SHAW not to put his hands on her and just grab his things. APAM said SHAW began to rub her lower back, and she told him not to rub her. SHAW told APAM that he was looking for her phone and that she was not going to be out there “being a ho” and shouldn’t have the baby with her if she’s going to be a ho. APAM responded that it was irrelevant and told SHAW to just worry about being a father. SHAW replied that he did not care, that in his head they’re together, and if she wanted to talk to anyone else, he was going to kill her.
