On 01/21/2026, Officers from the Fridley Police Department were dispatched to a report of an unwanted male at a hotel in Anoka County. Hotel staff, D. G., indicated Ryan Thomas Ferring, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter the Defendant, was renting a room at the hotel but was causing problems and they wanted him to be trespassed. Officers located Defendant at the hotel, assisted him in getting his belongings, and communicated he needed to leave and could not come back. Defendant left the hotel without incident.
Shortly thereafter, Defendant began to repeatedly call the hotel and demand they give him money back. It was explained to Defendant several times he needed to call the corporate office to argue his claim. Defendant became upset and threatened to cut D. G.’s throat. Officers intervened and explained to Defendant that he would be charged with harassment if he didn’t stop calling and harassing D. G. D. G. Had to unplug the Hotel’s telephone after Defendant called at least 55 times in a short period of time.
Officers were still on scene at the hotel when they observed Defendant return in his vehicle. Officers instructed Defendant he was under arrest and to get out of the vehicle. Defendant began to drive off. Officer followed Defendant, activating their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to pull him over. Defendant eventually ran a red light and accelerated away from officers, who terminated the pursuit. The State requests a body only complaint warrant in this matter and requests that the Defendant be held in custody until appropriate bail and conditions of release be set pursuant to Minn.
