On May 26, 2025, officers with the Minneapolis Police Department responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred in the area of [ADDRESS REDACTED] South in the city of Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Officers spoke with a known adult female, Victim herein. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had met a Somali male, later identified as ABDULLAHI NOOR SALAD, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, at the ARCO gas station. While at the gas station, Defendant approached her to buy a cigarette. Defendant told her that he didn’t have money on him, so she agreed to walk back to his residence to get his wallet, which was located near [ADDRESS REDACTED] South.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] into his apartment, which was on the 3rd or 4th floor of the building. When she was in the residence, Defendant pulled out a small black knife and held it against her neck. Defendant said something to the effect of “Be quiet, you’re going to f***.” Defendant removed Victim’s clothing and proceeded to penetrate her vagina and anus with his penis. Defendant held the knife by Victim’s throat while he assaulted her. After the Defendant was finished, he escorted her out of the building.
Victim reported that she felt wet in her genital wear as she walked away from the building. She used a rag to wipe herself. The rag was provided to law enforcement for potential evidence. Victim self-transported to the hospital for a sexual assault examination. Swabs collected from her examination were sent to the BCA for DNA testing. At that time, law enforcement did not have a known DNA sample for Defendant. In June 2025, officers were dispatched to Defendant’s apartment on another report of a sexual assault.
In that case, the victim reported being forced to engage in sexual penetration. Officers executed a search warrant at Defendant’s apartment and located a small black knife consistent with the knife described by Victim. Officers also obtained a buccal swab from Defendant, which was sent to the BCA for DNA profiling. The BCA DNA testing determined that Defendant’s DNA profile was a possible contributor to the DNA mixtures found on Victim’s anal and mons pubis swabs. Defendant met with investigators on at least two occasions.
During a post-Miranda statement, Defendant was shown a photograph of Victim taken from the date of offense, and he was asked if he recognized the person in the photograph. Defendant told the investigator he had never seen Victim before. Given the nature of the offense, the State believes Defendant is a risk to public safety. The State requests a warrant issue with this complaint.
