06/01/1967 (58), violated the law as set forth herein. On March 9, 2026, at about 2:11 PM, Alexandria Police Officer Baker was dispatched to a report of a disturbance involving two occupants of a silver Jeep which was then located at Subway, [ADDRESS REDACTED], Alexandria, Douglas County, Minnesota. The male, identified as David Zastrow, stated that the female, identified as the registered owner, MICHELLE VANDENBROEKE, had been driving the vehicle from Brandon while they ran errands in Alexandria.
Officer Baker observed that Vandenbroeke was unsteady on her feet, with rapid spasms and contortions, rapid speech, dry mouth, and abnormal mouth movements, and she showed multiple indicators of impairment on field sobriety tests. Based on multiple indicators being present, VANDENBROEKE was placed under arrest. VANDENBROEKE admitted taking various medications and, after arrest for DWI, a search of her vehicle revealed a glass methamphetamine pipe on top of her purse in plain view and, inside the purse next to her wallet and driver’s license, a multicolored silicone container holding approximately 0.2 grams of a crystal substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
VANDENBROEKE stated she usually smokes when using methamphetamine, and Zastrow stated she had used more recently than January; Officer Baker obtained a search warrant and a blood sample was drawn from VANDENBROEKE using a sealed BCA kit, and she was booked into the Douglas County Jail for DWI and drug possession. VANDENBROEKE’s criminal history includes a prior felony 5th Degree Controlled Substance Possession conviction and a gross misdemeanor 3rd Degree DWI conviction under Hennepin County District CFN: 27- CR-17-20943 on 3/13/2018, a felony 5th Degree Controlled Substance Possession conviction under Douglas County District CFN: ••-CR-••-•••• on 2/5/2013, and felony 5th Degree Controlled Substance Possession conviction under Douglas County District CFN: ••-CR-••-•••• on 10/16/2012.
