A semi-truck hauling ammunition crashed and overturned late Friday morning at the east end of the Lowry Hill Tunnel in Minneapolis.
Traffic was shut down in both directions of Interstate 94, causing long back-ups while drivers were diverted.
The crash happened just before 11 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-94. According to initial information from the Minnesota State Patrol, the semi struck a tunnel wall and overturned, spilling part of its trailer into the eastbound lanes. The trailer was described in emergency dispatches as having "split in half."
Video obtained by MN CRIME shows the semi driver starting to tip on the curve, colliding with the median and causing the top of the trailer to be sheared off by the tunnel wall divider.
Authorities said the semi was carrying ammunition and a HAZMAT team was called to assist with the spill. Officials have not said what specific type of ammunition was involved.
The early-30s male driver was evaluated by paramedics and had some abrasions but reportedly no serious injuries, according to radio dispatches. He was transported to the hospital and has not been officially identified. There were no other vehicles involved and no other injuries reported.

Department of Transportation crews closed I-94 in both directions between Interstate 394 and Interstate 35W to allow for workers to secure the load and remove debris. By around 12:45 p.m., eastbound lanes were re-opened through the tunnel and westbound lanes were cleared by about 4:30 p.m.
