On March 4, 2026, at approximately 12:25 P.M., a deputy with the Chisago County Sheriff's Office spoke with the owner of a Dominos Pizza in North Branch, within Chisago County, in the State of Minnesota. The owner is identified as D. N. ("the victim"). The victim [NAME REDACTED] on March 4, 2026, at approximately 11:30 A.M., one of the victim's drivers, J. M. ("the driver"), delivered pizzas to the Stacy trailer court in Stacy, within Chisago County, Minnesota. The victim advised that the pizzas were ordered online and that the online order provided a phone number of [PHONE REDACTED] and the address to deliver the pizza was just to the Stacy trailer court with no lot number.
The victim [NAME REDACTED] called the phone number and spoke with a "Jose Martinez". This individual told the driver to meet him by lot 163. The driver saw a beat-up black minivan parked near lot 163, and that a Hispanic male exited the minivan, approached the driver, gave the driver a $20-bill and three $10-bills for a total of $50. The individual then left with the pizzas and stated he was in a hurry. The driver then checked the money after stating it felt funny and saw that all the bills had "for motion picture purposes only" and at that time realized that the bills were counterfeit.
Law enforcement ran the phone number connected to the pizza order, and the number came back to a MASON MATTHEW MORA, [DOB REDACTED] ("the Defendant"). The deputy ultimately conducted a photo lineup with the Dominos Pizza driver to whom the counterfeit currency had been given. The photo lineup included a photograph of the Defendant, but the driver was not given names of any of the individuals contained within the photo lineup. The driver clearly identified the Defendant as the individual who had given the driver the counterfeit currency.
The Defendant has been convicted within the preceding five years for an offense under Minn. Stat. Sec. 609.821 in Court File No. 13-CR-24-178.
