On or about June 13, 2025, around 11:03 P.M., officers on routine patrol responded to a rail trespass call at the 5th Street South and Portland Avenue rail station in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, officers saw a male, later identified as OLE NICHOLAS OLSON (“Defendant” herein), standing on the tracks between two cement barriers. Defendant was delaying trains by standing on the tracks. Officers directed Defendant off of the tracks, and Defendant told officers he just wanted to ride the train back and forth, but he had nowhere to go.
Officers noticed Defendant appeared intoxicated and confused. Officers called Hennepin County Medical Center (“HCMC” herein) medics to the scene. Defendant told medics he did not want to go with them. Defendant was slurring his words and was hard to understand due to his level of intoxication. Officers advised Defendant he was on a hold and needed to go to the hospital because of his intoxication, confusion, and standing on rail tracks. Officers assisted HCMC medics in getting Defendant on to a gurney.
Defendant became combative. Defendant grabbed an officer’s wrist (“Victim” herein) and gripped hard. Defendant gripped multiple spots on Victim’s arm and wrist, and Defendant dug his nails into those spots. Victim’s arm and wrist bled as a result of Defendant’s nails. Eventually, officers were able to secure Defendant to the gurney. Defendant continued to yell and attempted to kick officers.
