On March 31, 2026, officers with the Bloomington Police Department executed a search warrant at 7201 36th Ave N, Apartment #312, Crystal, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers were acting on information received related to narcotics distribution by an individual associated with the apartment. As officers approached the apartment, Tactical Support Units observed an individual, later identified as DIQUAN WOOTEN, [DOB REDACTED], “Defendant” herein, who stuck his body out of the door. The TSU officer could see what appeared to be a black handgun in Defendant's hand, and movements that indicated that the Defendant was going to try to hide or discard it but once he saw officers he retreated back into the apartment.
Officers breached the apartment and Defendant was the only occupant. Defendant was taken into custody and asked officers to grab his money that was hidden in a pillow on a couch. The money was property inventoried and totaled $1,480. Officers also located Defendant’s phone on the couch, and prescription bottles in Defendant’s name. A black handgun was recovered from the living room floor, the firearm was confirmed stolen out of Mille Lacs Tribal Police. Also in the apartment was various mail, vehicle titles, and airport luggage tags attached to luggage bearing the name of the primary target, who was not present at the time.
In the kitchen officers saw a digital scale with noticeable amount of white powder residue. In kitchen cupboards officers located a substantial amount of suspected narcotics, and located smaller amounts in the living room and entry closet. The narcotics were in numerous bags. The substances were weighed and tested as follows: - 230.88 grams NIK positive methamphetamine - 80.37 grams NIK positive cocaine - 47.22 grams NIK positive fentanyl without packaging. Officers also located 27 round blue pills imprinted with M30, which based on training and experience is suspected fentanyl.
And 27 individually packaged bindles of suspected fentanyl in a kitchen cabinet. Also in the apartment were individual rounds of ammunition and empty magazines. Defendant has previously been convicted of aggravated battery with a firearm in Cook County, Illinois, on or about July 10, 2013, in Court File No. 2012CR062500. Aggravated battery with a firearm is a crime of violence as defined by Minn. Stat. 624.713 and Defendant is therefore prohibited from possessing a firearm. In his Miranda statement, Defendant claimed he was just a visiting party, then requested a lawyer.
Defendant is currently in custody.
