On March 29, 2026, at 12:00 AM, officers were dispatched to a reported stabbing at 3048 5th Avenue South, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, officers approached the residence and observed that the front door was closed. Officers knocked and announced their presence. Officers had received information that the suspect, later identified as Omar, Asad Abdukhadir ([DOB REDACTED], hereafter “Defendant”), was still armed with a knife. Officers retrieved a ballistic shield and entered the residence.
From the base of the stairs, officers called for Defendant to come down from the second floor. Defendant complied and was taken into custody without incident. While on scene, officers observed a male, hereafter referred to as “victim,” with visible blood on his body. Prior to this, officers spoke with individuals exiting the residence who stated that the victim had been stabbed by their brother and was still inside. Shortly thereafter, the victim exited the residence wearing a bath towel and bleeding from his head and back shoulder area.
Officers observed a puncture wound to the victim’s upper back and active bleeding. The victim was escorted outside to the front yard and then transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. Officers accompanied the victim [NAME REDACTED]. Medical personnel treated the victim [NAME REDACTED], including cuts to his body and a puncture wound consistent with a stab injury. The victim [NAME REDACTED] from his head. Once medically stable, officers spoke with the victim. The victim [NAME REDACTED] in the day Defendant had been involved in a verbal argument with family members, including his father, A. O. F. The victim [NAME REDACTED] had been asked to leave the residence and became increasingly agitated, continuing to cause problems within the household.
The victim stated that shortly thereafter; while exiting the bathroom and entering his room, Defendant suddenly stabbed him in the back with a knife. The victim reported falling to the ground and attempting to defend himself from additional stabbing attempts, during which he sustained multiple cuts. The victim described the weapon as a silver metal kitchen knife commonly used for cooking. The victim [NAME REDACTED] did not recall all details after the assault but indicated that another individual called 911. Defendant was taken into custody without incident and later booked into the Hennepin County Jail.
Defendant is currently in custody.
