Probable Cause
I. M. M, Victim hereinafter, reported to the Coon Rapids Police Department that they had a package stolen from there apartment building. On 11/04/2025 at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NW in Coon Rapids, Anoka County, the Victim had a package delivered to the apartment complex vestibule that contained jackets. Law enforcement reviewed video footage from the apartment that showed a suspect enter the vestibule area on 11/5/2025 and take the package. The suspect then left the area in an SUV bearing license plate RVZ538. This vehicle is registered to a Shakitha Jones.
Law enforcement spoke to Jones and her daughter Kewiana Strickland who stated that she borrows the car to Jermaine Darnell jr. Smith [DOB REDACTED], Defendant hereinafter. Strickland was later shown a photo of the theft suspect and she confirmed that the suspect was the Defendant. Law enforcement also reviewed the Defendants DVS photo, which was a match to the theft suspect. At no time did the Victim give consent for the Defendant to take the package. Officers were aware that delivery drivers often leave packages in the vestibule area for pickup.
